Today is Bell’s Let’s Talk Day in support of mental health. Among other initiatives, Bell will donate 5 cents for every text message sent, long-distance call made, tweet with #BellLetsTalk, and Facebook share of the Bell Let’s Talk image.
Mental health has become a big issue at UBC as of late, especially during the latest AMS elections, The Ubyssey’s February 3rd article criticizing the university’s efforts with mental health reforms, and January’s Mental Health Symposium on campus. Suffice to say, people have been talking about mental health. But we need to talk more.
Last year, we published this video to raise awareness for eating disorders, a form of mental illness. Today we are presenting a re-cut edition of the 30 minute long interview with Lauren, a former UBC student who has struggled with mental illness, to support Bell’s Let’s Talk Day. The more we share about mental illness, the more people can be helped overcome the stigma and receive treatment.
