Do Your Part: Bike to Work Week 2013

Bike to Work Week (B2WW) rolls back to the UBC campus October 28 to November 3rd. Do your part to promote cycling as an integral part of transportation culture in Metro Vancouver! Be involved – cycle to and from UBC, get fit, and contribute towards our campus sustainability goals. As an added incentive, you can compete against other workplaces for a chance to win a free bike tune-up and other great prizes!
There are many ways to be involved during B2WW:
1) Register at www.biketoworkmetrovan.ca for free to participate.
2) Free skills/training workshop: Register by email (neal.wells@ubc.ca) for this workshop with giveaways and refreshments! October 23 at 12pm(noon) at the Henry Angus building Rm 254.
3) UBC Commuter Station: Celebrate on Wednesday October 30th at our commuter station! Join us for food, music, bike demos, prizes and much more. Location: St. Anselm’s Church @ 5210 University Boulevard.
4) Free cycling training course for Fall and Winter Riding:
To help you get prepared to ride in Bike to Work Week, UBC is offering a free cycling training course! This free intermediate-level workshop is perfect for those who ride to work in the summer and are thinking of trying it in the fall or winter. You’ll learn advanced tips and tricks about biking to work in Metro Vancouver’s winter riding conditions, including:

  • Dressing for the weather (staying warm and dry)
  • Advanced cycling safety
  • Cold-weather care for your bike
  • Lights and visibility
  • UBC-specific bike parking and resources

Refreshments, bike maps, giveaways and other information will also be provided. Location: Henry Angus Building (Map) Room 254.
