Ponderosa Commons Studio Opens Oct 16

UBC Recreation is excited to announce our brand new studio facility at the Ponderosa Commons. The studio facility complements our current studio and dojo located at the Student Recreation Centre, and offers students, staff, faculty and the general public the opportunity to take part in recreational programs at another facility on campus. Located in the West Commons building on University Blvd and West Mall, the studio is a state-of-the-art fitness space with floor to ceiling windows. Washroom and shower facilities are also available. UBC Recreation will be offering over 12 classes a week ranging from yoga, dance, fitness, to other health and wellness classes.
The Ponderosa Commons is designed to increase on-campus student housing and create a vibrant social and academic centre. It includes a cafe, a commuter-student collegium, informal learning spaces and end-of-trip bicycle amenities. There are also academic spaces for the Faculty of Arts, along with an art gallery.
Join us for a week of free classes from Wednesday, Oct 16 to Tuesday, Oct 22, and experience the new studio for yourself! Registration for these classes will close on October 22.

Belly dance combines foundation movements and technique work to form simple choreographies. Use of props, more complex choreography, and some music interpretation will be taught. Please bring a scarf to tie around your hips. Ladies only.
