CORRECT. Although this pose looks to be an insignificant transition move, it is critical to assess your body. The Chaturanga helps elongate the body and lengthen the neck.

INCORRECT C'mon, look how bent she is - we were basically giving you the answer. You want to stretch that body out, and this bending won't help.

IMG_0211

INCORRECT. Do you even know what yoga is? This is like level 1.0. Having your legs together helps maximize the stretch!

IMG_0214

CORRECT Nice! Yeah! The downward dog is a gentle way for you to open the hamstrings for quickness and speed, stretch shoulders, and keep wrists strong and supple!

IMG_0211

CORRECT. You got it! And this is a biggy - Poses like this are critical for a healthy back. We spend most of our day sitting at our desks and we over-stretch our back muscles and weaken our abdominals. This pose sorts that right out.

INCORRECT Look how squished up and tight she is. That's not what yoga's about - get it together. Be sure to stretch out to maximize your success!

IMG_0211

CORRECT. Wahoo! So this Chair Pose builds vigor in the anterior and posterior spine. Additionally, since the pose opens the chest and builds power in the spine, it is a great pose for people who have breathing issues.

IMG_0225

INCORRECT Have you never sat on a chair before? You want your head up to help stretch your spine!

IMG_0211

CORRECT. Warrior I, to be precise. This pose requires you to maintain a lunge position with the front knee bent and the back leg straight. You are standing still, but all your muscles are alert and active, which helps strengthen the shoulder, arms and back. In particular, this pose builds strength in the ankles, calves and thighs.

IMG_0225

INCORRECT You're certainly not a yoga-pose-identification warrior. You want to be straight, forward, and reaching for the heavens.

IMG_0231

CORRECT. The major benefit here is that you can show off to all your friends. But in close second, is the benefit of balance - Once balancing on one or two legs has been mastered, the obvious next step is finding equanimity on hands and head.

INCORRECT Her legs are everywhere - it's embarrassing! To maintain balance, and prevent a horrible spill, keep those legs straight!
