Score for Scott

On Tuesday October 13th, the brothers of Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) and Phi Delta Theta came together for yet another glorious ice hockey match. However, this game would hold a deeper purpose for not only the brothers of DKE but for the UBC community as a whole. In memorial of Scott Trapp, a brother of DKE who passed away on December 26th 2014, the men of DKE renamed a past charity event: The Annual “Scott Trapp Stick it to Cancer” Ball Hockey Tournament.
As a whole the chapter raised over $35,000 last year for the Canadian Cancer Society. Last week’s game served as one of the many pledge drives fundraising towards this year’s chapter goal. This year, every goal DKE scored would raise their fundraiser $559, earning them almost $4,500 with their extraordinary 8-2 win. Each year, the men of DKE continue to support an influential cause. With the support from over 300 fans and the Greek community, the event was more than successful: it was meaningful.
Tri Tran, a close friend of Scott’s and the captain of UBC’s DKE ice hockey team described Scott as:
“The best guy out of any of us, he embodies everything that we as a fraternity want to embody. He was a gentleman, he was a scholar, and he was a damn good time to hang out with — a very jolly good fellow.”
The bond that grows between the brothers of Delta Kappa Epsilon is strong. The loving memory of Scott Trapp lives on and will forever be held within its brothers.
