Free Week Classes: Starting Your New Year Right

It’s January, a fresh start for the New Year! Is getting active or trying something new on your New Year’s resolution list? Make these goals a reality by participating in this term’s Free Week from January 11-17! Even if you don’t have any resolutions, doing something positive for your body and mind’s well-being is always a benefit.
With free classes available for anyone to try out, whether you are a UBC student, UBC staff and faculty, or the public, everyone is welcome! Classes range from fitness, yoga, dance, swimming, boot camps, martial arts, and many more. There’s a wide selection to check out and we don’t just offer the generic yoga or fitness options – we have unique programs such as K-Pop dance that probably won’t be found elsewhere! Classes are held throughout the day during the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, so it doesn’t matter if you are an early riser or a night owl, there’s plenty to choose from during any time of the day. All lessons are held in the Student Recreation Centre’s Dojo and Studio, as well as Ponderosa Studio, Aquatic Centre, and Tennis Centre.
Once you select the class(es) you want to attend, it’s as easy as arriving 10 minutes before the start time to guarantee a spot, since classes are first-come, first-basis. No registration is needed so just bring yourself or a friend!

There are also open houses happening during Free Week on:

Tuesday, January 12: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Ponderosa Commons Studio

Wednesday, January 13: 10:00 am – 1:45 pm
UBC Aquatic Centre

Do you have questions about classes or instructors? New to UBC and want more general information about UBC Recreation? The open house is the place to be at, so our staff can answer your burning questions and introduce you to new events and activities that you may never heard of on campus!
Don’t miss this opportunity!
