TSC FYI: Synchronized Swimming CUSSL Western Champions!

With Nationals coming up this weekend, we were lucky to have a short interview with Ashley Lloyd of the Thunderbirds Synchronized Swimming Sport Club! We had a chat about their most recent competition at Westerns where the Advanced Yellow Team placed 2nd, the Advanced Blue Team placed 4th, and the Novice Team placed 1st.

What was your team goal going into this competition?
I am part of the Advanced Blue Team, and this was actually our first time competing together as a team. Going into this tournament we definitely wanted to perform to the best of our abilities, but also wanted to have a lot of fun!

Was there anything unexpected that happened on tournament day?
It was a very long day at the pool, and although I knew there were a lot of great teams competing, it was amazing how strong the performances were! It was a great learning experience for all of us.

Does the team have any pre-game rituals?
Before each performance, we had a team huddle – it was something that really brought us together as a team.

What the highlight of the weekend?
I am so proud of how we swam – We really did come together as a team, and in the end we had a lot of fun!

What tournament are you looking forward to next?
Nationals! It’s happening this weekend at Watermania at the Riverport Sports and Entertainment Complex and we’re all looking forward to it!

Ashley (second from the left) and the Advanced Blue Team are ready to compete!
