National Drowning Prevention Week

The Lifesaving Society traditionally celebrates National Drowning Prevention Week during the third week of July, and reminds all Canadians to be water smart regardless of where and when they find themselves near water.

Here at the UBC Aquatic Centre we want to invite you to please remember to keep your children within arm’s reach whenever in the aquatic environment: If you’re not within arms’ reach, you’ve gone too far. Always supervise children.

Additionally, UBC Athletics & Recreation would like to acknowledge the student-staff and summer staff who make-up the life-saving team at the facility. The aquatic supervisors, lifeguards and cashiers provide hours of service day-in, and day-out twelve months a year to keep us all safe. Thank you to our staff for everything they do to keep us safe.
