Athlete Feature of the Week: Katherine Greer

All the way from Toronto, ON, first year student Katherine Greer has proven herself to be a fierce competitor so far this season. With 2nd and 7th place finishes in GS at Mission Ridge this past weekend, we are excited to see what else she will achieve with the team!

Growing up racing for the Caledon Ski Club, she has always dreamed of joining the national team. She continued pursuing that dream by racing for the National Ski Academy, where she stayed for 3 years. With the National Ski Academy, Greer achieved a personal best of 59 FIS points in giant slalom and 70 points in slalom. She decided to put her dream of racing for the national team aside upon graduating high school, although it will always be in the back of her mind. Her focus now is to continue doing what she loves – whether that means continuing to race at the top level, or free skiing with friends.

Greer decided to come to UBC so that she could keep doing what she loves – studying in the renowned Faculty of Land and Food Systems, as well as the opportunity to continue racing in a competitive environment and pursue her other hobbies at the same time – horseback riding, hiking, golfing, biking, and adventuring.  UBC’s proximity to Vancouver, the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and world-renowned skiing opportunities all helped her to make the decision to head west and join the SkiBirds this year!
