UBC TSC Equestrian Season Wrap-Up 2017

To top off the competition season, UBC Equestrian held a year-end team ride at Riverside Equestrian Centre on March 24th. Our riders participated in mini-IHSA classes led by trainer and volunteer IHSA coach Linda English, who awarded scores and provided feedback to riders from our Flat and Over Fences divisions. All team members completed great rides and are looking forward to training together again next season.

At the year-end TSC Awards Banquet, Alumni rider Kelsi Jessamine was awarded UBC Equestrian’s TSC Sportsmanship Award. Both a competitive rider and valuable teammate, Kelsi approaches this sport with unfailing enthusiasm and endless support for her fellow competitors. Congratulations Kelsi!

Finally, on April 8th UBC Equestrian executives Nat Nahirney and Claire Anderson competed in the IHSA Zone 8 Championships at Stanford University in California. Both completed very successful rides, for which Nat was awarded Champion in the Open Equitation on the Flat and Claire was awarded Reserve Champion in the Intermediate Equitation over Fences. Both Nat and Claire have qualified to compete in the IHSA National Championships, held on May 4th in Lexington, Kentucky, for the second time in two years. Congratulations Nat and Claire!

UBC Equestrian would like to thank all of its riders, trainers, and executives for the incredible effort they put into making this season successful. Good luck to Nat and Claire at Nationals, and to everyone else we look forward to another great year!
