The annual tradition of Storm the Wall took place this year on March 26th-29th. Despite the construction and inclement weather, the event brought community and positivity to the campus in an impactful way. With over 800 teams, 3,600 participants and 100 volunteers the event was a highlight for many.

The introduction of the new Aquatic Centre brought new challenges as well as fun experiences for those able to swim in the new state of the art facility. The Wall Challenge returned with a different format bringing in brave competition to see what team could get over the wall the fastest. Three Super Ironwomen successfully got over the wall!  Unfortunately the drought of having a Super Ironman get over the wall continues to plague the campus, however, there were several racers that were very close and we are hopeful for next year.

The 3rd Annual Student Storm Festival was a huge hit! With a free yoga dance party to kick-start the day followed by a power breakfast and cheer stations, the UBC Community really came together to celebrate the last day of Storm the Wall. The Superhero themed Community Festival was a wonderful attraction on the Sunday to neighbouring communities and families to partake in a lovely day of activities, games and free food. As always the face painting, balloons and Euro Bungee were a huge hit and having Spiderman on-site definitely lifted spirits.

We look forward to next year’s big event and are excited to build on what is already such a beloved longstanding tradition.
