UBC TSC to host USA Alpine Ski Conference Race

UBC Thunderbirds Sport Clubs are excited to announce that the UBC TSC Alpine Ski club will be hosting their governing body’s fourth and final conference race of their regular season at Grouse Mountain February 10th and 11th  before heading to regionals in Jackson, Wyoming.
The Alpine Ski club is one of TSC’s oldest clubs, with an illustrious history at UBC in Varsity and Sport Clubs Athletics.  The Ski team has started strong this year, beginning the season with a successful training camp with the Whistler Mountain Ski Club and the BC Ski Team in early January.  They continued onward to victory at their first USCSA conference race at Brundage Mountain.  There, the Women’s team skiied to the first victory of the season with the help of first years Samantha Boughner and Anastasia Kiku, and second year Maija Wootton, who placed 2nd, 6th, and 10th respectively.  Though the men did not have enough members to place as a team, they put up strong finishes with Cameron Hale in 3rd and Jake Klonsky in 10th.
TSC is certain that the team’s incredible performances will carry onwards as they prepare for the two races they’ll compete in before racing on home turf at Grouse Mountain.  Wishing them good luck, UBC TSC hopes to see students and alumni cheering on the team this February, as USCSA returns to Grouse Mountain for the first time in seven years.
