UBC Alpine Ski Team Qualifies For USCSA Nationals

Since 2012, The UBC Alpine Ski Team has proudly qualified and attended USCSA Nationals. The UBC Alpine Ski Team is excited to continue our streak this year by sending the women’s team and a qualifying male athlete to the event in Lake Placid, New York. As the only Canadian team on the circuit, we train hard to ensure we can return to nationals each year not only to represent our school but also ski racing in Canada. USCSA alternates nationals annually  between the east and west to make travel fair among schools continent-wide. Last year nationals were held in Bend, Oregon making it easy for UBC to attend with as many athletes as the cars would hold, however this year we face a different challenge, as nationals returns to the east.
After losing our varsity status in 2015 the UBC Alpine Ski Team has worked hard to keep the same attitude of a varsity team. This has proven to be difficult as all fees are now self-funded instead of being subsidized by the university. We are forever thankful to our donors for keeping the ski team running and help reduce the cost for our athletes so we can keep the ski team open to all. Thunderbird Sports Clubs have given us the platform to build our team up with recruiting, fundraising events, and guidance for our student executives.
Our marketing and communications executives have created a crowd fundraising page through the university with a goal of $2000 to further assist in subsidizing costs for our traveling athletes, you can access the fundraiser HERE. On this page you will find a brief backstory of the ski team, along with a description of what your donations will go towards. The USCSA will have a livestream of Nationals in Lake Placid as they celebrate the 40th anniversary of the event, be sure to tune in and cheer on our skibirds! We are extremely grateful for your support!
