Overview of the 2017-2018 Season

It is a wrap for both the Men’s and Women’s TSC Tennis teams this season! At the beginning of 2017-2018 season, both teams hosted a Tennis Mixer Fundraiser which raised over $2300. Shortly after that, they raised another $800 from their bar night at The Bimini.
The Men’s Tennis team started the season strong with commanding wins over UofC, UBCO, and SFU. Despite minor setbacks, the team was able to stay strong and win both regionals matches against UVIC (7-0) and SFU (6-1). The team was determined to win at Western’s against the University of Alberta, and advance to Nationals later this year. Unfortunately, the team wasn’t able to achieve desired results, and was eliminated from contesting the National’s title.
A major highlight for the Women’s team this season was going down to Tacoma for the team’s first ever trip to the US. The Women’s team went down to Tacoma, WA in February and played two US Universities that are in the NCAA. They won every single match against both the University of Puget Sound and the Pacific Lutheran University without even dropping a set. Three weeks after Tacoma, they represented UBC at the Collegiate Tennis Western Canadian Championships. They had a difficult loss in Edmonton but they bounced back quickly to host an amazing bar night fundraiser at the Lamplighter to end off this season.
For all of our prospective students, the tennis teams will be posting more about tryouts in late August. Please keep a look out for the info on all of our social media!
