TSC Sailing End of Year Update

After a couple of busy months and an overall busy year for our team, UBC TSC Sailing is enjoying the time summer brings to recuperate in preparation for next year. Recent regattas bring pride and motivation for the team given the commendable effort shown by UBC sailors, which points towards great success in the coming seasons. In addition, the team elected a new set of executives for the 2018-2019 season.

NWICSA Co-ed and Women’s Championships
Despite being in the midst of exams, a few members of our team were able to take some quick study breaks to head first to Seattle, for NWICSA Women’s Champs, and then to Bellingham, for NWICSA Co-Ed Champs. Both regattas had the added importance of serving as qualifiers for nationals. Though conditions were difficult and there was a high level of skill, our sailors were able to boast some strong finishes nonetheless. Based on the hard work and dedication shown at this year’s regattas, UBC TSC Sailing’s future in NWICSA looks bright.

New Executive Team
After a great year thanks to the 2017-2018 executive team, a new executive team has been elected to fill their shoes and continue their great work. Catherine Hackwell (’19), Matt Goguen (’19), and Jonah Cadieux-Johnson (’19) will be keeping their positions as Finance Officer, Travel and Safety Officer and Club Lead, respectively. Richard Minelly (’20) will take on a new role as Co-Club Lead and Jennifer Vincent (’21) will be fulfilling the role of Marketing and Communications officer.

With a strong end to the season and a strong team of leaders for the future, UBC TSC Sailing is incredibly excited to return in the fall.
