UBC Lifeguard Wins Barnsley Championship

Timofey Zinin, long-time member of the lifeguard staff at the UBC Aquatic Centre, was part of the winning team at the 82nd annual Barnsley Lifeguard Championships. The team “Seek Slip Slap Slop” (Timofey Zinin, Albert Kho, Lauren McKimm, Paul Wechselberger) travelled to Merritt, BC to compete in the provincial championship event hosted at Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre by the Lifesaving Society  – BC/Yukon Branch.
Seek Slip Slap Slop has been competing in lifeguarding competitions with varying lineups since the summer of 2015. Over the years the team consisted of lifeguards from UBC, Langley, Surrey, Chilliwack, Vancouver Island and SFU. This year the team won two regional competitions in Surrey and Langley and claimed the coveted Barnsley Shield at the provincial competition in Merritt.
