Pancakes and Sweat for Breakfast with UBC TSC Triathlon

Yesterday on November the 18th, Forerunners threw a Pancake Run in support of the UBC Thunderbirds Triathlon Sport Club, attracting
upwards of 80 runners. This 5km run with a complementary breakfast of pancakes and draw prizes drew in upwards of forty runners on a frosty Sunday morning.
This was a fairly relaxed run for around the the Forerunners Mains Street location up and around Queen Elizabeth Park, with everyone from children and ultra marathoners all gathering to have a fun run.
Except for this one hill and a bit of dangerously frosty sidewalk, this was fun and friendly, mostly keeping at a conversational pace.
Afterwards all runners shared some breakfast. While still a friendly run, they would still be competing over their place in line at the pancake table.
Of the runners who won something from Forerunners generous prizes, TSC Triathlon’s own Ashley Lloyd won a Forerunners cap from the lucky draw alongside lucky runners that won a hydration pack, compression socks and other useful gear from courtesy of Forerunners to name a few.
The fundraiser raised between $800-1000 after fundraiser dollar matching by UBC. Proceeds of the run went toward funding UBC TSC Triathlon, which really helps out, given that TSC Triathlon is funded primarily through their student athletes’ contributions and the fundraising efforts directed by their student executive team. Once again, TSC Triathlon is very thankful to the running community for coming out to support them and to Forerunners for hosting the event. It was truly a great success and a ton of fun.
