A Season of Firsts Continues for UBC Lacrosse

 

The 2018-19 UBC TSC Thunderbirds Men’s Lacrosse Team.

It was just over a year ago, on September 23rd 2017, the UBC Thunderbirds Lacrosse SC lost to the Simon Fraser University Clan 14-2. Well, this past Saturday November 17th 2018, UBC earned their first ever defeat over SFU with a 9-3 victory. It is the first win for UBC against SFU in it’s program’s history, previously going 0-6 against the Clan.
Connor Frost (#3, Attack, 3rd-year Psychology) led the way with 3 goals. Additional goals came from Tomas Syskakis, Matt Lattimer, Kyle Olsen, Brandon Mclean, Jamie Gill and Lorenzo Malana, respectively. This was Connor’s first game since October 13th, after missing 4 games with an elbow injury.
Nick Schatz and Ryan Fitzgerald were outstanding on defence for the Thunderbirds. Schatz, whose in his 3rd year with the team, and Fitzgerald, who is in his 1st, have been key defenders all year, as they mentor a young Thunderbirds squad protecting the back-end.

The Thunderbirds will look to improve on their 4-3-1 record when they take on Whalley in CWFLL action, Saturday November 24th 2018, at Queens Park East in New Westminster. Game time goes at 8:30pm. This will be the last game of 2018 for the Thunderbirds, before returning to action in February 2019.
