Although their competition season is yet to begin, UBC TSC Synchro has had a busy semester! The executive team came full force into September and UBC Synchro was out recruiting at both Imagine Day and at the UBC Aquatic Centre Open House.
Successfully, UBC Synchro was able to establish a Novice and Advanced team who are both committed to training and competing this season! Additionally, our full roster is up and you can check it out here!
UBC Synchro celebrated their 3 coaches, Jessie, Jordan, and Christina for national coaches week in September. The club expressed their gratitude for them and how excited they are to have 3 coaches dedicated to the success of our athletes.
As the semester furthered on, UBC Synchro focussed their intentions on purposeful practice and fruitful fundraisers. UBC was able to host 2 awesome fundraisers. In October, they sold 100 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts outside the UBC Aquatic Centre. Later in the semester, the club partnered up with UBC TSC Lacrosse to host an amazing and fun-filled night at the Lamplighter, a great collaboration of both teams!
While the club was busy fundraising for Westerns and Nationals, 2 of their members Olivia Zawadiuk and Katie Stirrat were invited to come tryout for the national team in Montreal, Quebec. After many weeks of intense training, the whole club was cheering them on as they headed off to Montreal. After recently returning, everyone is so proud of how far these 2 athletes have come and how much they have improved. Not only were they training 3 times the amount as they would have normally, they also continued to be full time students at UBC which was an amazing feat!
Now what can you look forward to? Our annual winter watershow is just around the corner and will be taking place at the UBC Aquatic Centre on December 2nd from 6:00-6:30pm. You’ll be able to get a glimpse of all the routines that we have been working on. For all the details check out our facebook event here – it’s sure to be a spectacular showcase!
