Consultation: MacInnes Field Upgrades

As many will recall, the new UBC Aquatic Centre was built on the site of MacInnes Field. The plan through the development phase of the North Precinct was to relocate a new MacInnes Field on the site of the former UBC Aquatic Centre – a literal swap of space.
As shared in September of 2017, construction of the single-level underground parkade will provide short-term parking for 216 vehicles (more information here) and with this project well in-hand, UBC Campus & Community Planning is now engaging the community on the development of MacInnes Field.
The new site will be an articficial turf field over the MacInnes Field Parkade.  The field will be used for both recreational and athletic purposes.   This project also provides for the reinstatement of adjacent public realm connections around the field, AMS Student Nest, and Athletes Way adjacent the UBC Aquatic Centre to the east, and between Student Union Boulevard (north) and University Boulevard (south).
Should you have missed being part of the process up until now, it is not too late as the Public Comment Period remains open until December 4, 2018.

Patrons of the UBC Aquatic Centre are encouraged to be part of the process to shape our community.
