Julian has been involved in UBC Recreation since his first year at UBC when he joined the Nitobe Basketball Intramural League. For Julian, the UBC Intramural League has not only given him the opportunity to become closer to his friends, but also to meet a wide variety of new people.

Julian’s Top Picks

UBC Intramural Leagues

“With a set schedule and a team-environment, the Intramural Leagues bring about a sense of ownership that encourages you to show up and support your teammates. You won’t know how much fun it is until you try. Don’t take my word for it. Intramurals are a great way to try sports you’ve never played before as well.”

UBC Intramural Leagues is a great way to meet new people and build friendships. There are a variety of different Leagues from Basketball and Soccer to  Dodgeball. You can choose your competition category from Just for Fun to higher tiers of competitive play. If you do not have as much experience in a certain sport, you can join a Just for Fun team and play in a fun, supportive environment. Likewise, if you’re someone seeking a highly competitive environment, there are three different tiers for you.

Storm the Wall

“It was casual enough to feel comfortable and low-stress, but still structured enough to have some fun being competitive with other teams and enjoy getting a workout.”

UBC Storm the Wall is definitely an event that should be on your bucket list. This exciting and iconic event involves a swim, sprint, bike, run, and finally climbing THE WALL. Challenge yourself and brace yourself for the Storm!
