The Alpine Ski Team is excited to announce our executive team for the upcoming 2018/2019 season. We are welcoming back Michele Warner, who has transitioned from our Finance officer last year, and has stepped into the role of Club Lead this year. Lauren Hale is also returning to her role as the Marketing and Communications officer, as well as Fundraising. Two new faces to our executive team this year are Anastasia Kiku as our Financial officer and Jake Klonsky as Travel and Safety. In addition, Maija Wootton has stepped up as our TSC Athlete Council representative.
The ski team is entirely student run, under the guidance of the Thunderbird Sports Clubs, and relies on the hard work and dedication of these 4 student-athletes to keep operations running smoothly. Their duties range from creating and managing the annual budget, planning all trips and travel logistics to events, organizing fundraisers and fundraising initiatives, race coordination with the NWCSC and USCSA, and day-to-day runnings of the team.
Some new initiatives we have implemented this year include, employing student coaches to help in the gym with dryland training, and on the snow at competitions. As well the team has purchased new equipment such as radios, race start supplies, a video camera and drill to increase productivity during training and competitions. We look forward to another successful ski season, with hopes of returning to Nationals in Jackson, Wyoming March 10 – 16th.
