Winter term 1 was a whirlwind of activity for the UBC TSC Cycling Team. We ran weekly Saturday training rides, rostered 20 athletes and even ventured into the world of fundraising with our successful Krispy Kreme sale. We wanted to thank all of those who supported us by buying donuts, without your generous support the cost of racing in the Northwest Collegiate Cycling Conference would be a barrier for many prospective athletes.
This semester we are looking forward to continuing our weekly indoor spin sessions at Method Cycling. We are very grateful for this partnership as riding in the cold rainy Vancouver winter isn’t always ideal! We are also very excited to distribute our new team kit for this year, it looks awesome and it’s exciting to see everyone start to look like part of a team. We will be finalizing our roster within the next few weeks, and are excited to maintain our reputation as one of the teams with the most women within our conference.
Here’s a little look at what the future has in store for the Cycling Team. Our racing season begins March 2nd in Eugene Oregon with the University of Oregon hosting the first race weekend. The rest of our schedule is as follows;
March 2-3, 2019: University of Oregon – Eugene, OR
March 9-10, 2019: Oregon State University – Corvallis, OR
March 16-17, 2019: University of Washington – Seattle, WA
March 23-24, 2019: Western Washington University – Bellingham, WA
April 6-7, 2019: Whitman College – Walla Walla, WA
April 20-21, 2019: Montana State University – Bozeman, MT/University of Montana – Missoula, MT
April 27-28, 2019: University of Idaho – Moscow, ID
We are hoping to be able to send racers to every race and would love to have a large UBC presence at each race weekend. If you are ever in the area and want to come watch some exciting racing, spectators are always welcome!
