Gwangju Canada’s most successful FINA World Championships ever

Congratulations to Swimming Canada’s athletes, coaches, and support staff for their success at the most recently completed 18th FINA World Championships – Gwangju 2019 – South Korea July 12 – 28, 2019. While Canada saw success in the other disciplines, the Canadian pool swimmers ended the competition with a team record two gold and six bronze, all in Olympic events. They reached 19 finals – two more than in Budapest in 2017 and the most finals since 1978 – 15 world championships ago. The previous medal record was six at those 1978 worlds.

Congratulations to High Performance Centre – Vancouver’s Emily Overholt on the bronze medal in the women’ 4×200 freestyle relay.

With results like this, Swimming Canada appears to be ready for Tokyo 2020.
