Your Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate League

School is back in session and you’re probably wondering to yourself, “What can I do to get more involved on campus, meet new people, stay healthy and have an ultimate good time??” (If you weren’t wondering that before you should be now!)

What do I need to know?

UBC Recreation Intramurals offers a wide variety of intramural options but to have an ultimate intramurals experience; sign up for the Ultimate League! Ultimate is a sport that has 7 players on the field at a time. Because it is a CoRec sport, there can only be a maximum of 3 self-identified males on the field playing at a time and a minimum of 6 players for the game to start!

To register you must have between 8 to 20 players. You can be a part of a Campus Wide team which can include anyone from any faculty (we don’t discriminate) or a Divisional Team where individuals must be in the same faculty or residence!

What Tier should I register for based on my skill level?

Tier 1 is recommended for the more experienced frisbee throwers and the more competitive option if you and your team really want to challenge yourselves. Tier 2 is less competitive and more suited more beginners! However, both focus on having lots of fun! Ultimate is self-refed and therefore you must understand and learn the rules! Don’t let that scare you away if you’re a beginner though- every skill is strongly welcomed!

What days do I need to book off?

Games are on Saturdays or Sundays and each team plays 2 games on their day of play! Games are weather permitting and will be cancelled if it’s snowing!

Great! Where do I sign up?
