As the new Artistic Swimming season gets underway, so does the launch of a new Artistic Swimming program for youth being run at the UBC Aquatic Centre. After having a successful day-camp in the summer, a couple of the experienced Artistic Swimming athletes belonging to the TSC club have agreed to coach the new program, taking place at the UBC Aquatic Centre every Sunday this fall from 11am-12pm.
A description of the program is as follows:
“This is an introduction to the sport of Artistic Swimming for children between the ages of 8-12. This program aims to teach basic swimming and artistic swimming skills that will lead the young swimmers to create their own routine. This program aims to foster a sense of community and skills such as team building and leadership. Each session will consist of learning and practicing new skills and working on a routine to perform to parents at the end of the session. Prerequisites: Must have completed Swim Kids 5 and be comfortable in the deep water.”
