NOTICE:  Variable temperatures to be anticipated

Users of the UBC Aquatic Centre are to be advised to anticipate variable temperatures (air and water, pool basins and showers will be cooler than normal) between 7pm on Friday Oct. 11 through 9am on Sunday Oct. 13.

Facility users can anticipate the following:

  • Showers will be functional though not at an optimal temperature (cooler than normal);
  • Pool basins, primarily the Leisure, and Recreation tank, will lose temperature over this period;
  • The Hot Tub will be closed;
  • Indoor air temperatures will be cooler than normal;

Impacts are a result to scheduled modifications to the Hot Water District Energy System (aka “DES”) to support construction on Student Union Boulevard and the Gage Towers / Pacific Residences Site. The DES, powered by the Campus Energy Centre, is the main source of heat for the UBC Aquatic Centre. Another example of UBC’s commitment to sustainability.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
