Take a Breath and Recharge

All week in the UBC Aquatic Centre we’ll have free programs for UBC Students to take a break from midterms. Have a 30-minute break in between classes? Drop by for some mellow music and colouring in the mezzanine, or relax in the steam room. Looking for something high-energy and fun? We’ll be hosting aqua fitness classes with a playlist of solely Early 2000’s Throwbacks music!


Free Drop-In Programming | November 4 – 8

Monday, November 4

12:05PM – 12:50PM | Shallow AquaFitness – Whitney (Houston) Workout

Performed in chest-depth water with music to get you motivated and moving. This is our most popular type of Aquafitness class and for all demographics and fitness levels. Class includes muscular strength and endurance, core stability, flexibility, and more.

Tuesday, November 5

12:05PM – 12:50PM | Shallow AquaFitness – Beyonce

Performed in chest-depth water with music to get you motivated and moving. This is our most popular type of Aquafitness class and for all demographics and fitness levels. Class includes muscular strength and endurance, core stability, flexibility, and more.

Wednesday, November 6

12:05PM – 12:50PM | Shallow AquaFitness – Motown

Performed in chest-depth water with music to get you motivated and moving. This is our most popular type of Aquafitness class and for all demographics and fitness levels. Class includes muscular strength and endurance, core stability, flexibility, and more.

8:15PM – 9:20PM | Aqua Bootcamp – Britney Spears

Challenge your fitness level and improve your cardio conditioning alternating with strength, balance, and core training segments while exercising in shallow water. This class features interval training, power and propulsive moves to challenge you without the stress on the joints. This is a higher intensity Aqua Fitness class.

Thursday, November 7

10:35AM – 11:20AM | Deep AquaFitness

Improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, and flexibility with this no-impact, deep-water workout. Participants should be comfortable in deeper water but flotation belts are provided for each person.

Friday, November 8

10:00AM – 10:45AM | Get Wet and Sweat – Glam Rock

A combination of shallow and deep water classes that focus on cardio endurance, core stabilization, strength, balance, and flexibility. You choose the depth and take it to your own personal level of exertion! Participants of all ages and levels of fitness are welcome.
