There is an abundance of ways to adopt and maintain good mental health, and Thrive month is all about exploring what works best for you! Research consistently highlights five ways to help promote and support a healthy mind. These are called the Thrive 5 and they are simple ways to help you Thrive not just this month, but throughout the entire year!

One way to Thrive is by moving more! So take a stretch break, bust a move to your favourite song or try one of the following 5 ways to move it!

Try dropping into sports! Is your lab partner annoying you about the way you’re holding your pipette? Challenge them to a one on one basketball match. Alternatively, catch a W to counteract all the Ls you’ve been taking this term by playing table tennis with your friends.

Stop being cooped up at your desk and arc your way over to the two gyms at UBC. Only for the price of 0.2 textbooks ($35), you can get a gym pass for a full term and finally bring a six pack of abs instead of drinks to next summer’s BBQ. You can hire a personal trainer to show you the ropes, or workout with a friend who can let you know it was “all you” the entire time.
