League Feature of the Week: UBC Squirrels

We spoke to UBC Squirrels about their Intramural Soccer experience this past term!

1. Tell us about your IM experience, how has it been so far?

It’s been fun! We’ve been playing for the past few years, and keep coming back. We made a team about three years ago with a bunch of our friends from Marine Drive and have been adding more people through the years. Aside from soccer some of our players also play in different leagues like volleyball and dodgeball.

2. What would you tell people who’ve never taken part in an Intramural sport/league before?

(Kyle) Definitely go for it! It’s been so great, I wish I could’ve joined earlier and played in some more leagues. If you feel like you’re not the best at a sport then you should try making a JFF team with some friends. Singing up as a free agent is also a good way to make a team if you can’t find one and wanna play. It’s only one term long so give it a go & you’ll definitely come back for more.

3. And finally, what is your favourite part of IM soccer?

Just getting out and playing soccer with friends each weekend is great. It’s nice to have consistent games too, that way we have a schedule and can stay active. The officials are supportive and it’s a nice community to be a part of!

Thank you so much to the UBC Squirrels for participating in the Handley Cup Soccer League this past term!

League Registration for Term 2 is now open – remember to sign up before January 10th, 2020.
