Day of the Longboat | September 28-29

  • 3,540 attendees, 3 capsized boats, 13,583 memories to last a lifetime
  • Day of the Longboat is a longstanding UBC event held at Jericho Beach. Enthusiastic teams, wild costumes, loud cheering, bumping music, beautiful beaches, sunshine, and the famous ring of the gong- the best way to kick off your year at UBC!


Gladiator | October 10

  • 362 SUPER (mario) attendees, 0 dislocated shoulders
  • A challenge of mind and body, with Gladiator style activities, all in one epic evening. In the final challenge round, the top two teams from each heat would send their fastest 3 team members to fly through the inflatable obstacle course. It was a new portion of Gladiator that was a huge success!

Floorball Championship | October 18

  • 68 attendees, 0 slapshots, 1 spandex-filled and jazzercise-themed gym
  • Floorball is a unique mix of floor and field hockey with a twist of lacrosse where teams compete against each other in an effort to shoot their way to a championship shirt. It was great to see all the teams who have never heard or played floorball before, learn a new sport and play it all in one night!

Great Trek Student Relay & Festival | October 26

  • 44 student relayers, 1 beautiful sunny day
  • A new and exciting festival that celebrates the tradition of student leadership and advocacy, while also recognizing the rich history of the Musqueam people on the lands of the UBC Vancouver campus. As part of the festivities, the Fall Classic Run route and a student relay race travelled through the Vancouver campus.

UBC Tennis Smash | November 7

  • 24 attendees, 4 Federer-hopefuls, 0 tennis racquets actually smashed
  • Whether you’re a tennis beginner or the next Serena Williams this event is designed for all skill levels and is as popular as Wimbledon (well maybe not quite, but it is known to sell-out fast!)

Water Wars | November 14

  • 111 attendees, 1 huge splash, 0 sign of Gary the Snail
  • The perfect way to escape from the cold, this year’s event ventured into Bikini Bottom (aka: UBC Aquatic Centre) for a variety of wild and fun SpongeBob-themed challenges. Stations included Spongebob Polo Pants Station, Dirty Bubble Whisper Challenge, and The Chum Bucket Challenge.

Gutterball Bowling | November 21

  • 90 attendees, a couple strikes, 10 pajama onesies, too many gutterballs to count
  • It doesn’t matter whether you rolled a strike, spare, or split at this bowling tournament because we had a ball! Gutterball is one of those few events that draws students off-campus to see what the rest of Vancouver has to offer.

UBC Yoga Rave | January 16

Wear your bright clothes, bring your yoga mat (or borrow one for free) and join this FREE yoga dance party with free glow in the dark paint and blacklights. It’s going to be an event to remember, designed for fun and all abilities. Space and extra mats are limited, so arrive early to ensure your spot!

On the Button Curling Bonspiel | January 19

Sweep those winter blues away with a fun night of curling. Whether it’s your first time on the ice or you’re a seasoned sweeper this tournament is a great way to try a national pastime with a team of 4-6 people.

Howl at the Moon Volleyball | January 24-25

Want to have a late-night that’s filled with something other than studying? Howl at the Moon is a volleyball tournament that runs throughout the evening. Grab some friends to make a team of 4-6, put away those textbooks, and sign up for a unique and awesome experience!

eSport Championship | February 1

Want to relive old memories of spending countless hours with your friends playing video games in your basement? Get your fingers warmed up for this new event! UBC Recreation Intramurals in partnership with the UBC eSports Association challenges teams of 2 to participate in this one of a kind event to become the undisputed Super Smash Bros Ultimate champion on campus.


The Great Escape | February 6

The famed escape room comes to UBC! This won’t be your typical escape room, teams will have to complete tasks across campus and then descend to the final challenge. Test your brainpower outside of the lecture hall with mind games and puzzles as you work through the escape room racing against the clock. This evening is one of high stakes, teamwork, and adrenaline!

UBC Triathlon Duathlon | March 7

Join us for BC’s longest running triathlon on our very own campus! Enjoy an indoor swim in the competition tank of the UBC Aquatic Centre followed by a picturesque race route around UBC Campus. Whatever you’re looking for, TriDu has you covered with divisions for everyone. It’s TriDu, not TriDon’t after all!

Storm the Wall | March 21-24

Are you ready for UBC’s most iconic experience? Storm the Wall is a famous UBC event where teams of 5 (or individuals) swim, sprint, bike, run, and finally storm a 12-foot wall! Whether you’re a dedicated participant or a passionately cheering bystander, Storm the Wall is something that is an essential experience for any UBC student.
