TSC Alpine Ski Team Starts the Season Off With Their Largest Team Yet!

On the first weekend of the semester, 22 athletes started the season off with the annual lengthy road trip to McCall, Idaho to compete in the first GS race of the season at Brundage Mountain. Both the men’s and ladies team placed 3rd on day one with Max Duso coming 4th, Brogan Themens 11th and Devon Lister 12th for men’s and Anastasia Kiku 3rd, Maija Wootton 8th and Emilie McGuire 9th for ladies.

Jake Klonsky starting his first GS run of the season

Due to inclement weather, the team made the difficult and unfortunate decision to withdrawal from the Sunday race to make the long journey back to Vancouver as safe as possible. Despite the upsetting news, the team agreed Saturday had been such a fun day of getting to know everyone and some trying racing for the first time, the near 30 hours of driving was worth it!

This past weekend, our dedicated athletes returned to Idaho to race in the first slalom of the season at Lookout Pass. On the first day, our ladybirds took 3rd with Isabella Gigone placing 5th and our men’s team took 8th with Jake Klonsky placing 7th.

On the second day… our women’s team took home their FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON! With an excellent performance from Isabella Gigone placing 1st, Anastasia Kiku coming 4th and Sophie Sargent placing 11th. Our men’s team placed 5th (despite only having 2 counting times) with John Forssander coming 6th and Jake Klonsky placing 9th.
