A Fantastic Last Show of the Season for the UBC TSC Equestrian Team!

The UBC TSC Equestrian Team ended their regular season on a high note this past weekend in Woodburn, Oregon.

Six athletes and the team coach drove down to Oregon for the one-day show hosted by Willamette University. In the Open Hunter Seat Equitation division Fatima Tavera placed 1st and 2nd, which led her to win high point rider. Eleanor Walton-Knight placed 4th in Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation. Jasmine Taylor made her debut in Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation, finishing 5th. She also placed 1st in Limit Hunter Seat Equitation Over Fences. In the same division, Olivia Godfrey placed 3rd in her class. Melissa Tsia placed 3rd as well in Novice Hunter Seat Equitation. In the Pre-Novice Hunter Seat Equitation division Tessa Wiehr finished 4th.

HSA Zone 8 Region 4 regional finals were held in the afternoon. Jasmine, who qualified at the last show, competed in Limit Hunter Seat Equitation. Her reserve champion finish secured her a spot at Zones, which takes place at Stanford in California at the beginning of April. This marks the 5th year in a row that at least one athlete from the UBC TSC Equestrian Team has qualified for Zones!

Despite the competition season for most of the team being over, everyone will continue training at Riverside Equestrian Centre. We will also be hosting another fundraiser sometime next month. Keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook – more details will be coming soon!
