The end of February is almost here, and with that the UBC TSC Artistic Swimming season is coming to an end as well. Two weeks ago UBC hosted the biggest University Artistic Swimming competition of the year: CUASL Nationals 2020!
The club was happy to welcome over 20 universities and nearly 300 athletes and coaches from across Canada to UBC for the competition and hopes that all athletes, coaches, judges and their supporters enjoyed their time in Vancouver.
Not only did UBC host an amazing meet, the club also performed very well throughout the weekend:
The Novice Kingsman Team was able to secure a bronze finish, coming in 3rd in the Novice Team category, while the Novice SuperModels Team came in at 7th place in the same category. The team would like to say a huge thank you to Coach Christina, who coached both teams and displayed an incredible level of commitment.
UBC had an entire 3 extra routines competing at Nationals this year.
The Experienced Sharks Team came in 4th place in their finals swim in the Experienced Team category. A big congratulations goes out to Coach Jessie for finishing her UBC coaching career with such a strong swim featuring her powerful and passionate choreography.
Additionally, the Experienced Blue Team placed 18th with a beautiful performance choreographed by Coach Jordan, who, once again, did a fantastic job.
For his first time competing in the Experienced Solo category, Tim performed amazingly, coming in 26th place. UBC’s Novice Soloist Natalie came in 5th place with a beautiful performance, and Triyana and Penny came in 5th place in the Novice Duet category – a great showing for their first season with the club.
With that, the weekend wrapped up. None of it would have been possible without all the people rallying behind the team: our Meet Managers/Club Leads, Jocelyn and Angelica, our TSC Coordinator, Christina, our TSC Assistant Coordinators, Bella, Rob, Alex, and Sara, the Pool Events Coordinator, Christine, as well as the countless volunteers without whom there would have been no event.
You still have one more chance to catch this season’s routines in action! Come on down to the UBC Aquatic Centre from 4:30-5pm on Saturday, March 14th for our Annual End of Season Watershow – there will be raffle prizes and entry is by donation!
