Ways to Stay Active While Working From Home

Hi everyone!

Today we will be talking about ways to stay active while working or studying from home. It is very tempting to keep in the habit of just sitting in bed or staying in your PJ’s the whole day, but having a balanced routine is crucial for both your health and work quality.

Here are some ways you can keep yourself active throughout the day:

1. Make a daily workout routine of your preference

Choosing a daily workout routine with squats, burpees, crunches, or other indoor exercises you enjoy doing will ensure your body stays healthy during the extended period you stay home. Don’t hesitate in using your creativity when exercising, walking in lunges every time you go to the kitchen, five squats every time you need to go to the bathroom or even doing milk jug bicep curls while you wait for your food.

2. Schedule Regular Breaks

It is important to make sure you keep track of how much time you are working, and to avoid working from a seated position for more than 2 hours if possible. After this period, if you are able, stand up for at least 10 minutes: stretch a little bit, complete an exercise of your choice and adjust your posture on the chair. A good way of doing this is setting up a timer on your phone every time you start working. This way you don’t have to worry about looking at the time or going over that 2 hour period!

3. Have a Set Schedule

Work hours might get a bit out of control when you work from home. Because you are by yourself, probably in your own room, it is easy to lose track of how much time you have been working straight. This can infringe on family time, and interfere with your sleeping, as well as eating habits. In order to keep a healthy and active lifestyle, it is also important to make sure you have a set schedule of when you start and finish working every day.

4. Get up for your food

Who doesn’t love food in bed? However, after some time this can become a poor habit which will make you less active every day that goes by. Try eating your food in a different environment from your room as much as you can. This will force you to get up, change clothes and get ready for the day. When you physically get up, your brain sends signals to your body that help you concentrate better in whatever you are doing.
