Free or low-cost workout programs to follow along to at home

With gyms and fitness studios slowly reopening, you can still enjoy workouts in the comfort of your own home. We have compiled a small list of places to find free at-home workouts to keep you fit and healthy until your usual fitness space reopens.

Orangetheory

Cost: Free

Orangetheory studio is offering a variety of at-home fitness programs ranging from high-intensity interval training routines targeting the upper body, to total-body Tabata workouts. They post new workouts everyday, and they even make articles on how to meet your fitness goals at home!

Lululemon

Cost: Free

Everyone’s favourite Vancouver-based athleisure clothing brand is hosting live yoga sessions! Make sure to follow them on Instagram to stay up-to-date on their schedules and to instantly be notified once a session starts.

DownDog Yoga App

Cost: Free

The DownDog App offers free online yoga sessions personalized to your fitness level. You can set the time, level, music, and even the voice of the narrator and the DownDog app tailors a session based on your needs. Download the app through the iOS App Store or through the Google Play Store.

YouTube Fitness Channels

Cost: Free

There are a ton of YouTube channels that offer top-quality fitness programs and advice on how to maximize your at-home workouts. Channels like Jeff Cavalier’s AthleanX consistently share at-home total-body workouts as well as expert advice from his experience as a physical therapist to elite athletes. Check them out to keep smashing your fitness goals even while at home!

UBC Recreation – Get Active At Home

Cost: Free

UBC Recreation is itself leading an initiative to maintain physical activity at home. We host fun and low-barrier movement breaks throughout the week live on Instagram, as well as virtual fitness classes on Zoom. The variety of the live sessions ranges from Kickboxing Barre classes to Dance Fit classes. If you miss any of the live sessions, some of them are recorded and posted for you to follow along to later on!

Harbour Dance Center Live

Cost:$10 per class

Who says home workouts were all about yoga and calisthenics? With Harbour Dance Center’s livestreamed dance classes, you can enjoy a fun workout while learning some dancing skills you can take with you to other virtual dance parties.

305 Fitness

Cost: Free

Speaking of virtual dance parties, 305 Fitness is hosting their signature 305 dance cardio classes on their YouTube channel everyday at 12pm and 6pm ET. Have fun while working up a sweat to get your heart pumping!
