Checklist For The Best Escape Room Experience

Calling all Witches and Wizards,

We’re in week two of our first room of the Harry Potter themed Escape Rooms and things are getting heated, or might I say, Incendio

Remember when Harry, Hermione, and Ron had to get their way through the series of safeguards and obstacles that were protecting the philosopher’s stone? Well, now it’s your turn.

The mystery is unfolding, puzzles are being solved, clues are being found, and witches and wizards all across UBC campus are uncovering their true magical callings within the wizard world.

If you or your team hasn’t yet accessed or started working through your escape room yet, make sure to check your emails for the link to the first room before next week’s room gets released.

Escape rooms aren’t easy and to make things a bit more manageable, we’ve compiled a checklist of tasks that will help you make the most of the experience for you and your team.

The Ultimate Potterhead Escape Room Checklist:

  1. Find a cozy space for each team member to be able to join a zoom call and crack codes comfortably. If your team is willing and comfortable doing so, it might be nice to find a spot for all of your team members to congregate. Some options include; Slytherin common room, a friend’s dining table, a man-made fort, or even a picnic spot outdoors to get those problem solving juices flowing.
  2. Think of an awesome team name that’s totally magical and might stand out from the rest.
  3. Whip yourselves up some grub, perhaps a feast, and maybe even a potion of coffee or tea to give you a boost (that’s what they’re called in the muggle world).
  4. Find your finest quill & quire to take notes for cracking codes.
  5. Refresh yourself with the Hogwarts school grounds so you don’t get lost.
  6. Take a seat under the sorting hat and practice your patronus spell here in the Wizarding World passport portal, to find out which house and patronus you belong to. If you haven’t already already done so, you may also want to find a wand
  7. Practice your spells!

We hope these simple tasks might help you on your magical journey!

Your Team’s To-dos:

  • Access your team’s week 1 escape room as soon as possible, in order to get your week 2 escape room.
  • Try to tackle the above checklist
