It’s been almost eight months since the pandemic hit hard in Canada. COVID-19 put an early end to many events happening all over the world and cut many sports seasons short. The Nordic ski team has been itching to get back to group training sessions since the start of the semester. After months of planning in order to keep the team safe in a COVID practice environment, we finally got the ‘go ahead’ from the university to start practices on October 16th.
It’s been a smooth adjustment back to practice over the past 2 weeks. The team is consistently seeing good turnouts at practices and the team’s attitude is more positive than ever! How did we kick off the fall training season, you may ask? Of course we had to scare the living daylight out of our rookies and put them through the torment of running the infamous 3000m track test!
In addition to this deadly run, we’ve been putting in some solid zone 3 intervals and some volume zone 1 training. Practices are held every Wednesday and Friday at 6:00pm PST. Let us know if you have any questions about joining team practices by reaching out on Facebook or on Instagram!
