4. Nitobe Garden
Address: 1895 Lower Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z4 Nitobe Memorial Garden (or Nitobe Garden) is considered one of the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan. When visiting Nitobe Garden, you will find yourself immersed in the beauty of a cherry blossom shower in the spring, irises in the summer, or maple leaves glowing red and yellow in the fall. Symbolic Japanese horticulture elements are well represented here, with carpets of moss, bridges that span a koi pound and iris bed, and stone paths crossing waterfalls. Challenge yourself to a quick beach hike down Trail 4 to Tower Beach, a rocky shore located near the infamous Wreck Beach. This year-round 410-stair-step is friendly for hikers of all skill levels and offers you the chance to see and capture the beauty of wildlife. Tower Beach also features two lighthouse towers built for World War II, making it a great spot for photographs to encapsulate an interesting piece of Vancouver history. |
