Bye Bye COVID. Hello Summer!

Although this year has lasted 23 months, it feels like not too long ago that we were able to have in-person practices in September. With many members of the team living outside of Vancouver, we were able to stay under the 10 person limit outdoors at practice, and could happily go for beach jogs and complain about how out of shape we were. As restrictions tightened, we transitioned from running practices together, to doing time trials apart and finally to getting shredded at core practices over Zoom.

2020: The year of Zoom (core)

Due to the whole “social distancing,” our socials took quite a hit. Apart from the occasional Zoom core and virtual games night, COVID made it hard to feel like a unified team. Thankfully with the vaccine roll out we should be back to normal(ish) by the summer. The Nordic team is planning on hosting weekly fun practices (in person, wow) for anybody to join. If you’re interested in practicing with the non-COVID restricted Nordic team, feel free to come out! You can reach us on social media on Instagram at @ubcnordicskiing or on Facebook at UBC Nordic Ski Club

In other exciting news, the 2021-2022 Nationals are in WHISTLER! That means we are locals at the event, and we can bring more people to participate. With our swift and spiffy one piece suits, we’ll be making quite the impression on our home turf next year– another reason to get out to practices this summer and get training!
