ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge

ParticipACTION is Canada’s physical activity promotion brand encouraging Canadians to move more throughout their day. This month they are hosting the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge, a Canada-wide, month-long physical activity initiative that encourages Canadians to get active in search of Canada’s Most Active Community.

From June 1 – 30, 2021, participate in the challenge to get moving, connect with others, and help your community get crowned Canada’s Most Active Community. It is open to everyone and all minutes tracked on the app and website count toward a community’s total score. After June 30, 50 finalist communities will be invited to submit an application explaining why they deserve to be Canada’s Most Active Community.

At the end of the challenge, one community will earn the top prize of $100,000 and title of being Canada’s most active. In addition to the national winner, there will also be prizing for the most active community in each province and territory.

In partnership with ParticipACTION, UBC Recreation has created 8 free exercise videos to add to our Active at Home video collection. Videos feature the Move U Crew and UBC Rec’s fitness instructors to help get you moving!

    • Now is the time to workout with Noah for a 20-minute full-body HIIT session!


5. Pixie-Ann – UBC Rec Fitness Instructor

    • Don’t pass up a chance to workout with Pixie-Ann for a 15-minute, no-equipment core workout!


6. Cora – UBC Rec Fitness Instructor

    • Challenge yourself by joining Cora for a 20-minute barre fitness workout!


7. Hanne – UBC Rec Fitness Instructor

    • Hurry and join Hanne for a 20-minute core Pilates class!


8. Amanda – UBC Rec Fitness Instructor

    • Allow yourself to freely move with Amanda in this 20-minute lyrical contemporary dance class!
