Updates & Impacts Due to COVID-19 Safety Protocols

In response to Step 3 of BC’s Restart plan and University guidance, a number of changes have being introduced at UBC’s sport facilities and through its recreation programs.

  • Self-assess prior to your visit & please do not visit if you feel unwell.
  • Masks remain strongly recommended for persons over the age of 12 who are not fully vaccinated (meaning at least 2 weeks after a second dose), but are no longer required.
  • Capacity limits in programs and facilities are being gradually increased.
  • Additional amenities (change rooms, washrooms, showers) are re-opening.
  • Physical distancing measures are being eliminated in some public areas and programs.

Please note that advanced registration is still required for most activities and admittance to UBC sport facilities. Registered guests may also be accompanied by up to two spectating guests, facility capacity permitting. Spectators must arrive at the same time as the registered patron and there are no “in-and-out” privileges.

UBC Aquatic Centre:

  • The doors are now open (unlocked) during operating hours, however advanced registration is still required. Access for pre-registered guests is permitted 10 minutes prior to the start of your session.
  • Inquiries are welcome.  Should you have questions related to our programs and services, you are welcome to come in and inquire with our Operations Desk staff.

Responding to Step 3 is very exciting for UBC Athletics & Recreation and we continue to work diligently to plan, prepare, and increase our service levels. Our restart will be gradual and many programs have resumed with minimal restrictions on activities or capacities. Thank you for your on-going patience and support.
