Guide to Move UBC 2022

This February is Move UBC, a university-wide annual initiative to increase physical activity and reduce the time students, staff, faculty and the UBC community spend sitting!

Small changes can add up to big impacts. Moving more and breaking up bouts of sedentary behaviour can improve both mental and physical health, impact academic and professional success, and contribute to wellbeing and sustainability in meaningful ways. However, fitting physical activity into our day, whether working and learning from home or campus, can be very challenging. We hope that Move UBC will be an opportunity for you to explore ways to Move More, Move Well, Move Anywhere and Move for the Planet.


So here are a few ways to get moving!

  1. Move UBC Kick-Off

Celebrate the start of Move UBC month with the Kick-Off Event on February 1st @ 12:30-2:00 pm at MacInnes Field. Try out hopscotch with challenges, prizes and music!


  1. New Moves with the Move U Crew Series

This series of classes highlight sports that don’t have a beginner program at UBC. Anyone up for pickleball, skateboarding, or adaptive sports like goalball, wheelchair basketball or sitting volleyball? These classes are free and you are entered to win prizes including a Fitbit, Lululemon Yoga mat or Move UBC Umbrella. No prior experience is required!

  1. ClassPass Promotion

Are you off-campus? We got you covered. Now is the perfect time to try a new fitness class with a discounted rate to ClassPass for students, faculty, and staff


  1. Move UBC Challenge

Think you have what it takes to complete the Move UBC Challenge? Learn how you can lead a more active lifestyle. Getting more movement in your day doesn’t have to be a daunting task and you’ll be entered to win amazing prizes doing it.


  1. Wear Your Active Wear Days

Wear Your Active Wear Day is every Wednesday in February. Whether you are a student, staff, or faculty member, you are encouraged to wear your activewear to campus and will be rewarded with some awesome perks including free admission to in-person fitness classes and virtual yoga classes.
