The Canadian Red Cross will be transitioning swim lesson and lifeguard training to the Lifesaving Society Canada.
In early January 2022, the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) announced they will be winding down their swim lesson and lifeguard programming. New information is now available about the “Swim Transition” process which will see swimming and lifeguard training provided by the CRC transfer to the Lifesaving Society Canada.
Beginning in January 2023 the UBC Aquatic Centre will use the Lifesaving Society of Canada’s “Swim for Life” for swim lesson programming. As part of this process, the UBC Aquatic Centre will continue to use the Red Cross for swimming lessons for the remainder of 2022.

To prepare for the transition from Red Cross to Lifesaving Society guided swim lessons, we are working with both organizations to ensure that there is detailed information to guide families in determining the correct level when they select future programs. View the current conversion chart here.
