This year will see the return to almost full operations since February 2020. Last night, the Free Agent meeting was an astounding success, helping just over 300 participants find teams to participate in across all leagues and Day of the LongBoat. In the Leagues sector, the fall term will consist of: Cross Volleyball, Handley Cup Soccer, Nitobe Basketball, SRC Futsal, Dodgeball, Point Grey Flag Football, Todd Ice Hockey, and Ultimate. In addition, running for short seasons will be: Roundnet (Spikeball) – September, and Innertube Water-Polo – November.
The Events side will see Softball Classic, Adaptive Sports (formerly ParaSport), Gutterball Bowling, World Cup Warm-up Soccer Tournament, Great Trek Run, Gladiator (expanded to 2 days), and of course Day of the LongBoat. Term 2 will consist of On the Button Curling Bonspiel, Yoga Rave, the Great Escape, Howl at the Moon Volleyball Tournament, and of course, the UBC Triathlon Duathlon, finishing off with Storm the Wall (March 19-22).
In what is now the Media Sector, as always our Digital Content and Media teams have been hard at work since before the start of the academic year, going above and beyond to produce both external and internal content. Both of these teams have been continuously evolving over the course of the past years, and continue to take on new creative challenges and projects.
For the first time since 2019, we made our way to the beautiful Sunshine Coast making a return to Camp Potlatch for the annual Intramural Staff retreat on September 10 & 11. For everyone who have attended this retreat previously, you will know that it holds a special place amongst our staff – this truly marks a re-emergence of the staff experience we all know and love, and we are very excited about the motivation it has ignited amongst our staff.
