Event Descriptions:

To kick off Thrive Month, we will be hosting a large fitness class party, called Rise & Thrive with F45! Have you seen F45 studios all around Vancouver and wondered what they are about? Well this is your chance to try out a beginner class as we are bringing F45 to UBC! What exactly is F45, you may ask? The "F" stands for functional training, a combination of HIIT and circuit style workouts aimed for everyday movement. As for the “45”, it is the total time in minutes for the heart-pumping, sweat-dripping fun. All levels of ability are welcome, especially if you are a beginner. So be sure to get your workout in at this fun-tastic fitness party! Great music is promised featuring our favourite DJ. This is a FREE event that is available to everyone, regardless of fitness level. Be prepared to move, enjoy, and THRIVE. No equipment is required.

If you are unable to make this event time, no worries! We encourage you to head over to the Oak and Broadway F45 to start a trial.

Skateboarding is a great form of transportation, but it can be tough to learn on your own! Coordination, stress alleviation, precision, reflexes, and patience are just a few benefits of skateboarding. Hand, eye, leg, and foot coordination are all enhanced by skateboarding. It is especially important to be safe when learning a new skill, so this is the perfect FREE beginner session if you’ve always wanted to learn how to skateboard. Be prepared to learn these new skills while having fun! No experience or equipment is required. However, if you have a helmet of any sort, we recommend bringing it. If you do not have a helmet, one will be provided for you.

In this session you will be introduced to the fundamental footwork and blade work of fencing, led by the UBC Fencing Club! And if you learn to enjoy the session, you could always join the UBC Fencing Club to enhance your fencing skills. Increased balance, flexibility, strength, coordination, agility, and cardiovascular endurance are just a few of the physical advantages of fencing. Fencing works every muscle in the body and also improves your ability to think quicker and more clearly. No equipment is required.
