Are you a busy university student, who’s searching for a life hack to boost academic performance and take care of your body and mind?
Well, I’m excited to present to you UBC Recreation’s latest initiative, the “Moves with the Move U Crew” podcast!
We already know that movement helps with increasing our concentration, deepening our sleep, and crushing our midterms (Warburton & Bredin, 2017). However, why not make more use of your already limited time, by infusing movement with mindfulness through the comfort of your headphones? This podcast is designed to deliver you mindful movement exclusively through an auditory experience.
Mindfulness is the practice of being aware of your environment, both external and internal to your body, without attaching any judgment; practicing mindfulness can improve cognition, emotion regulation, memory, and stress levels (Parto & Besharat, 2011). These benefits, combined with the benefits of movement, are bound to support your physical health, mental health, and academic performance.
Monthly episodes will feature guided stretches, walks, and meditations and are all under 10 minutes in duration. So, you’ll be able to enjoy an episode in small time pockets throughout a busy day! This may look like playing a stretch routine while on a study break, listening to a guided walk while venturing across campus, or following a seated meditation while on the bus.
Listen and download our trailer and first episode on neck hygiene now on Spotify and RedCircle.
Enjoy!
