The last two weeks saw strong results from plenty of teams! Whether on water, on two wheels or on two feet – check out how our athletes did!

Sailing

Cascadia Cup – Seattle, WA | October 15-16

Sailing SC went to Cascadia Cup hosted by UW last weekend. They sent two teams, one completed in gold and the other in silver. The team competing in the gold fleet were quick placed 3rd. Their silver fleet team had a great opportunity to get to know the FJ and work on racing in larger fleets with variable winds.

2022 CICSA National Keelboat Camp – Toronto, ON | October 22-23

We sent 3 sailors to represent UBC at the CICSA National Keelboat Camp. Sailors spent the weekend learning about Match Racing, and refining their fleet racing skills for a chance to be selected for the Canadian University National Keelboat Team.

Coming off a Western Canadian Championship sweep, UBC Men’s Ultimate looked to continue their momentum into Nationals. With only 4 practices together under their belt, this team came together and battled against Canada’s best to see how they stacked up against the competition. Ultimately, the team came 5th after a solid effort. The team is now focused on preparing the American circuit in the coming new year, with a lot of athletes also looking to sharpen their skills for U24 Team Canada Tryouts. Read more about it here.

Lacrosse

UBC Thunderbirds 2 – 7 New West Warlocks | October 22

Lacrosse SC competed last Saturday to face the New West Warlocks. Short legs got the best of the boys this weekend as they lost 7-2. Although the score doesn’t reflect it, the team is working better on defence with lots to improve on! The team has fallen to 1-3 on the season, with more games to play. They look forward to playing SFU in an exhibition match on November 11th at Terry Fox Field.

Great Trek Highlights

Great Trek – Vancouver, BC | October 22

Formerly known as the Fall Classic, the Great Trek is put on by UBC in partnership with RUNVAN® as their fourth and final event of the year. This year, athletes all across the TSC-Sphere ran different races at the Great Trek. Athletes from Alpine Skiing SC, Men’s and Women’s Tennis SC, and our Triathlon Sport Club competed on race day and crushed some PB’s and showed out! Stay tuned on our TSC Blog and Instagram for more details on how they did!
