It’s the MoveU Crew’s favourite time of the year again – February is Move UBC month! Move UBC is a university-wide initiative aimed to increase physical activity and reduce inactivity for individuals within the UBC community. Moving more can improve your mental and physical health, contribute to academic and professional success, and benefit your overall wellbeing in many meaningful ways!
This month, we’ve got lots of events that will help you get moving while also having fun! Some of our big events include our kickoff event, Recess, where you get to revisit memory lane and play Jenga, do arts & crafts, and win prizes! Speaking of prizes, every Wednesday will be Active Wear Wednesday, where you can post a picture in your active wear for a chance to win a Fitbit. Check out our Instagram @ubcrec for details about how to enter!
Move UBC is not just about moving more, but it’s also about learning more about movement! At Research Roundtable, you can listen to researchers, practitioners, and community members discuss anti-racism and lateral allyship in physical activity and sport. To end off the month, we’ll also be doing a Move UBC classic: Cha Cha Slide at Martha Piper Plaza as a fun dance break in between work meetings and classes!
This is just a glimpse of the multitude of events offered this month, so be sure to check out our Events Calendar so you don’t miss out!
