Alpine Skiing
Snoqualmie Pass Qualifier | Snoqualmie Pass, WA | February 11th & 12th, 2023
Back from a hot start, UBC competed at the Snoqualmie Pass in their last race before Western Regionals! With some additional practice under their belt, UBC showed out with their Men’s side finishing first and their women’s side finishing fifth! Heading into Regionals, this team is looking dangerous.

For the women, Malia Hodgkinson came out 11th on Sunday, Anika Prasad finished 16th on Sunday, Emma Fontaine finished 17th on Saturday, Tayo Steininger finished 21st on Saturday, and Pauline Kraut finished 25th on Saturday!
For the men, Marcus Athans came first on Saturday, Nelson Fretenburg came out 4th both Saturday and Sunday, Marko Smitran finished 15th on Saturday, Guy Leckenby finished 22nd on Sunday, and Nicolai Van Kruijsdijk finished 23rd on Sunday!
Seniors Brogan Themens, John Forssander, and Victor Samyn had notable finishes (8th, 10th and 27th on Sunday, respectively) in some of their last races as a Thunderbird.
Women’s Tennis
Canadian University Regionals | Vancouver, BC | February 11th, 2023

This past weekend, the UBC Women’s Tennis Team competed in Regionals against the University of Victoria in hopes of advancing to Westerns. After some stellar performances, the UBC T-birds defeated UVic 6-1!
Special shoutouts to the team’s seniors: Madison Fan, Isabel Evans, and Michelle Lim for their amazing performances at their last home match.
The team has qualified for Westerns, the tournament that western Canadian universities compete in to reach Nationals!
Lacrosse
UBC Thunderbirds 14 – 5 Vancouver Barbarians | Vancouver, BC | February 11th, 2023

We played the Vancouver Barbarians where we pulled away with a dominating 13-5 win thanks to our goalie, Evan Powers, who made multiple short handed saves which turned into quick goals on the offensive end by Charlie Lever, Nic Fernandes, and Dylan Robinson – who currently leads the team with goals this half of the season!
